The Toronto Independent Music Awards 2008

The Toronto Independent Music Awards, or TIMA’s. Following the company’s deal with W.O.A. International, it’s a strong endorsement of both Press Release PR’s growing reputation and continued support of the independent music scene.“The TIMA’s are an important annual fixture for independent artists everywhere,” says Press Release PR owner Danny Brown. “They celebrate the vibrant local music scene flourishing in Toronto, and highlight the tremendous talent of the musicians who live and perform in Toronto and worldwide. We’re delighted to be given the opportunity to further expand the awards.”

Formed in 2004 by Daniela Oliva and growing in both presence and importance each year, the 2008 Toronto Independent Music Awards will see the introduction of two one-day seminars. The “Off the Radar: Starting from Skratch” Urban Seminar will bring together the urban community to discuss challenges in the Canadian music industry in a new and engaging way. The “Indie101: How to Create your Own Buzz” general seminar will address many Do-It-Yourself topics. The awards night will take place on July 31st 2008 at the Phoenix Concert Centre in downtown Toronto, with artist showcases beginning in April and running all through the summer.
All previous awards nights have been sold out well in advance, and 2008 looks to continue this success as it aims for an even bigger and better event. The TIMAs are attempting to give away $40,000 in useful industry-connected prizes to category winners and nominees, breaking last years record of $30,000.
